I may be prone to exaggerate, and perhaps this time is no exception, but in the summer of 2006 I dressed up as a soldier to be an extra in a film due for release soon.
Funny old world eh!
The film is called 'The Golden Age', a follow-up to the 1998 film 'Elizabeth', starring Academy Award winning Cate Blanchett as per my photo above. (Click photos to enlarge in a new browser window)
The film is due for release by Working Title films in 2007.

I do realise that I look like a complete and utter prat (Left) but hey, that's show-biz for you!![]()
The filming took place on Brean Down, an unspoiled area close to my home town of Weston-super-Mare.
It was a fantastic day, very hot and tiring but well worth doing - even though I didn't get paid a penny for my 'efforts'!
Most of the day was taken just moving the hundreds of us 'soldiers' up the hill and issuing us with our allocated weapons and stopping for lunch, doughnuts or whatever.
It makes you realise Ricky Gervais' comedy 'Extras' is very accurate!
It's a shame that I will only appear as an 'out of focus dot' which will be multiplied many times with CGI computer graphics.
This is done to simulate thousands of soldiers stretching away into the distance, but at least I know I was there!
What a laugh!
You can read all about the film here and Working Titles own official 'behind the
scenes' view of the filming on Brean Down here![]()
